HC
IntroductionI chose Holy Cross because i felt that it had a "work hard, play hard" atmostphere which i gravitated to.
Campus Life and Social LifeDrinking definatley seems to be the center of social scenes. If you like to drink, HC parties are for you. The work load is significant, so most people go out once during the week or only party on the weekends. Since most kids only go out a few times a week, it seems a lot of kids hit the bottle hard when they do elect to party. Holy Cross does have a pretty tighly knit social scene which has its positive and negative aspects. It's fun because one almost always knows at least a few people wherever they go; however, one also quickly discovers that word can travel pretty fast around campus.
AcademicsThe academics are pretty challenging, and the workload for most classes can be quite rigorous. There really isn't much "grade inflation" at HC, so if you want an "A" you are really going to have to put the work in. Classes vary depending on the professor in terms of workload and difficulty. I know a lot of people that are in the Pre-Med program and that seems to be one of the most difficult fields at Holy Cross. I am an Econ Major, which is the largest major at the College. The teachers i have had have been fantastic, which makes the large amount of work not seem all that bad. I think the worst classes i have had have been from temporary professors that the College scrambled to get after a teacher left.
Student BodyThere isn't much diversity at HC... even though it seems admissions is frantically trying to change that fact. Most kids are White Irish Catholics from upper middle class families.
In Closing...I am very pleased with my college experience so far. If you want to work hard and play hard Holy Cross is for you.
