The Wooster Bubble
IntroductionI chose Wooster because of its size, great financial aid, and sense of community...and I was spot on. Wooster's student body is about 1800, and we're a very close-knit community. Our traditions are very important to us, and we have a lot of fun participating in annual events like Senior IS March, filling Kauke Arch with snow, and Greek Week.
If a student dislikes writing or work, then stay away! Wooster is a very challenging writing-intensive school! While IS may seem daunting, the College's writing center is top-notch, and writing-intensive classes prepare you well for success.
The best thing about Wooster is the Scottish tradition...who doesn't love boys in kilts?
Campus Life and Social LifeThe weekends always have something going on. Because the town sucks, the campus makes its own fun. The sororities and fraternities usually have a theme party or two, which result in CRAZY OUTFITS! Our Greek system is all local, which means we have control over what we do. Most people do drink, but if you're not into that, there are still a few options. There are also a lot of events during the week, including a host of lectures in all departments, Soup and Bread every Tuesday and Thursday, and lots of different clubs. Also, our sports teams are great - we're usually at the top of D3. Our baseball team recently beat a D1 school and is the best in the nation...the same goes for field hockey, women's lacrosse, and basketball. Go Scots!
I should also add that our Moot Court is second in the nation and our MUN team won an Honorable Mention for their awesomeness.

AcademicsAcademics are outstanding in da Woo. TAs are fellow undergrads and never teach the class, they just help with papers and conduct exam study sessions. Read up about IS - we have a lot of students transfer because of its daunting nature, but it's the second best senior capstone project in the nation.
Student BodyThe student body is very diverse and there's a group for everyone. There's a good mix of Ohio and out of state kids, and we have a healthy international student body. The one thing Wooster students have in common is a healthy sense of humor. Sure, we're "smart," but our initials are COW, which results in a lot of cow-themed paraphenalia. Our Scottish heritage is very important to us, and a large portion of the student body participates in Scottish Marching Band, the Bagpipe Team, or Highland Dancing.
Stereotypes don't really apply at Wooster. Sure, a lot of sorority girls are "communication majors," but there are a great many Biochem or Art majors as well. Similarly, one of our star baseball players was recently rewarded for stellar brief-writing at Moot Court.
In Closing...Shit on Witt! Wittenburg is a BIG rival at Wooster, and we have a lot of fun taunting them verbally during home games.
We also have the most beautiful campus around. Our Gothic-style academic buildings remind one of Harvard in its earliest days. Wooster's architecture blends the old with the new, and our buildings are completely wired with 21st-century technology.
Wooster is also amazing with financial aid. Over 95% of our students receive some sort of aid, which makes the 40,000 dollar price tag a lot less daunting.
Oh, and PS: It's whuss-turr, not WOO-stir. :D. Nobody ever gets it right...
