Lots of Work

Rating: 2/5 (3 ratings)
Introduction
It’s a lot of work, but once you get used to it, it’s fine. So if you don’t like to do A LOT of work STAY AWAY. Also it takes a little bit longer to make friends here than at most other schools because most of the students are very independent. So if you are not independent, Columbia might not be for you. If you want to be stimulated academically, culturally, and socially then Columbia is for you!!!

Campus Life and Social Life
You can basically do anything you want because you are in NYC and the fact that there is a campus means that you can also experience "college life"... you can go clubbin, go to a frat, go to bars, plays, or just hang out with a bunch of friends. The world is yours... by the way our sports teams are bad but its fun to watch anyway if your willing to take the subway up to baker... being in NYC makes up for the lousy sports... overall whatever you want can be found here!!!

Academics
Mostly everything is good or excellent. CULPA.info is extremely helpful in choosing teachers and classes. You should not pick classes without consulting it first. The workload is very heavy, and expect a lot of reading and writing. Most professors are pretty accessible but you have to initiate it. No one will ask you if you need help, you have to tell them.

Student Body
There is not a typical student at Columbia. It is very diverse but everyone is an academic. You have to be smart and talented to get in here.

In Closing...
The grass is beautiful to lay on in the Spring. When the weather is nice, it’s hard to find a spot to sit, it’s nice to see everybody out enjoying the sunlight.
