No Regrets

Introduction"Any person...any study." In the words of Ezra Cornell, you can pretty much study anything you want here. Academics are a priority for essentially everyone on campus, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten in. Be prepared to work your ass off, but also to have a great time, because as much as we study, we party that much harder. It's why I chose Cornell -- there's a great balance between work and play, and everyone around you is just as interested in maintaining a decent GPA as they are in shotgunning a beer.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe best part about Cornell's social life? We're all stuck on the same almost claustrophobic campus. The worst part about Cornell's social life? We're all stuck on the same almost claustrophobic campus. You'll meet a lot of new people, but you're also going to run into the same people every day. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Frat parties are crazy, and there are usually about one or two for every weekend night. It slows down on the weekdays (mostly because everyone's in the library..it is still Cornell), but the weekends make up for it. Also, Cornell's social life pretty much IS the Greek system. Keep that in mind for spring rush. Girls, pack your heavy duty coats because rush week always seems to be the coldest week of the winter, and you have to walk around in heels and skirts. Hitchhiking is not always bad. Boys, enjoy it because the rest of the semester is going to be the best and worst time of your life. However, for those who aren't into the Greek system, there are a lot of clubs and acapella groups around that hold lots of different events for those who are interested. It's also not necessary to be part of the Greek system to go to frat parties (although mixers are just as fun).

AcademicsI'm not going to lie. Cornell is hard. You're coming to a school with students who are just as smart and just as dedicated to their schoolwork. The most important advice I can give you is to GO TO CLASS. Try to stay awake and actually take notes. Takenote is a godsend, but it's not available for every class, and as painful as it can be, class is important if you actually want to have something to show your parents besides the ambulance bill (try not to get alcohol poisoning because the ambulance ride is EXPENSIVE).
Student BodyBefore I came here, people told me that the prevailing rumor was that the boys were hotter than the girls. This is not true. However, chances are, you'll be able to find someone who suits you and your tastes. It's a big school. Also, you're going to meet a LOT of people from the New York and New Jersey area, with some Californians thrown in. Try and keep an open mind when you're meeting people because you're going to be living with them for the next four (or more) years.
In Closing...Don't overthink it, meet as many people as you can, and try new things.
Also, enjoy it, because after college, it's called alcoholism.
You only live once. Have a good time.
