Prepare to work hard
IntroductionElectrical and computer engineering, it has a little stigma to it. Typical nerds. For the most part it’s people who thought they would do really well in it. It’s known for having harder requirements for graduation. It’s typical to take more than 4 years to graduate, mainly because of the way the requirements are distributed and trying to figure out exactly what classes to take. It can be done in 4 years you just have to buckle down and take a ton of credits every semester. I’m going to be done in 4. There are 2 main times throughout the semester when you are just hardcore working all the time, prelims come up, projects. But on the typical week just homework time I’d say 3 hours a day, 15 hours a week. Because of the labs and things like that 17 credit hours end up being 25 hours of sitting in classes and labs.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe classes change a lot as you got through school. Like freshman and sophomore year before you affiliate with a college you’ll have classes with like 200 people. You pretty much talk to your professor only on a need basis. As you go to the upper level classes it narrows down to where I think my typical class now is like 15-20. TA’s vary along with the size of the class. In the bigger ones there are more TA’s and you choose who you want to talk to. Now in the upper level class there are no TA’s. If you have questions you go talk to him directly.

AcademicsIn College Town there are about 8 or so bars. A few that are really good, so it’s fun. I like the party scene here. If you’re in a frat it helps to hook up. You have people over at your house, you’re partying it up. It’s really not that hard, when girls are like “are you a brother in the house?” You’re like yeah. That kind of adds some cool points I guess.
Some guys are girls out they just like to have a good time, but it’s not like that’s all you do. In my house half the people have girlfriends. The girls on campus for an Ivy League school I think are very attractive. There are some majors that are typically known to have hotter girls. There are definitely some good looking girls here. The girls in the AIM major are pretty good looking. Hotelees are pretty good too. There are some that are not known for being that great, like my major.
Student BodySlope Day is insane. It’s on the last day of class and pretty much everyone, even the engineers, every goes to the slope and it’s like a big drinking fest. Party hard because it’s your last day of college for 3 months. They have a performer every year. This year it’s Snoop Dogg and the Game. You see all the people who never really go out and you see them partying and having a good time. You’re like if they’re that much fun now, they should do that more often. It’s a good tradition. I like it.
