Be prepared for the cold...
IntroductionThe change in weather was a big adjustment for me. Coming from 70-degree winters to -20 degree winters – I’m not going to sugar coat it – that was rough. You don’t quite get used to it – but you just kind of accept it, but the winters are pretty serious here.
Campus Life and Social Life50% of the Dartmouth population is involved in the Greek life. I’m a part of an historically black Frat here and during my time here the #’s of the people involved has declined – but, its been the defining experience of my career and has really molded who I am and molded my experience here at Dartmouth. There’s nothing like being in a black frat in the NE and travel to other locations and link up with other Brothers in my fraternity – here at Dartmouth, it’s been a great way for me to have my own type of fun and coordinate my own social events. After joining a frat – it wasn’t that bad. Before joining a frat, it wasn’t that bad. The opportunities for dating- I wouldn’t call it dating. Here at Dartmouth, it doesn’t quite go along the traditional go out to diner and watch a movie – it’s more like for most people go to a Frat basement or go hook up with somebody and that’s about it.

AcademicsIt’s a pretty diverse campus – as far as actual diversity where people interact – I would say there people who do interact with each other – at the same time, I would say there are a lot of people who don’t leave their comfort zones. I feel like it’s a really open campus – people are willing to listen to ideas and listen to diversity.
Student BodyThe D-plan has been great for me. Some people bothered by D Plan – while they don’t mind being here for the summer after their sophomore year – they do miss the opportunity. To be here with their friends the following year – because their friends are either on or off. You can use the D plan to your advantage – not to be here during 1 of the winters. You take the winter off and be here in the summer – you can also use it to your advantage – career opportunities – if you want to work for 6 months straight by taking your spring and summer off.
