Depaul University

Rating: 3/5 (39 ratings)
Introduction
Depaul is a great school for anyone who loves the city life. There are tons of things to do because you have free access to the L trains and the CTA buses which can take you almost anywhere in the city. This college doesn't really have a college campus type feel because it is in the city so those looking for a typical college experience should stay away from this school. It is very diverse so if that is something that interets you, go to this school. If you are not a city person, Depaul is not the school for you!

Campus Life and Social Life
Since Depaul is in the city, the social life revolves around the bar scene. There are countless numbers of bars to choose from and there are the specific bars that are promoted by Depaul students. If you go to Depaul, you should expect to spend your weekends at the bars which can be a problem for those who are underage. Although there are fraternities and sororities, they are not big at Depaul and there are no houses so there are no frat houses at Depaul. Many people live in apartments or off-campus so there aren't many parties and if there are, they aren't big because they are in small spaces. Depaul is not a college campus because people live all over the city, including apartments and at home and so those looking for a college campus feel will not find it here.
Academics
Depaul gives many options for times and days for classes. They offer night classes so those who work during the day still have the opportunity to go to school at night. There are two campuses: Lincoln park campus and the Loop campus. Depending on your major, you will have most of your classes in one or the other. For example, commerce majors have most of their classes in the loops and liberal arts majors mostly have classes in Lincoln Park. People should pick where they live based on their major and where most of their classes will be to make their lives easier. Professors are for most part pretty accessible. They are easy to reach and they check their e-mails on a regular basis. Because of the size of the school, professors are available for one-on-one meetings to help. The workload is reasonable and time management is not a problem. However, those who are science majors should expect to have much busier schedules because instead of having a 3 hour weekly class, they have 4 hours of class a week plus a 3 hour lab.

Student Body
There is no typical student at Depaul because it is very diverse. Many people are from Chicago but there are also many people who come from out of state. Depaul is a good option for those who want to stay close to home and be able to go home when they want. Most people come to Depaul to establish connections for their future job in the city. Depaul is a great place to get work experience beacuse there are so many options since you are in th city and they also help establish many business connections for those interested in business. Most students are interested in making connections at Depaul for their future jobs.

In Closing...
Depaul is a great school for those who love the city and want to set up internships and work experience for their future jobs. Those looking for a typical college experience where eveyrone lives in the dorms and a college campus should not go to Depaul because they will not be happy.
