I wish I went somewhere else
Rating: 4.8/5 (22 ratings)
IntroductionThis is a very rarified envionment: it's one where the social life is raging in a very specific way (limited entirely to the Greek scene) and the academics are extremely rigorous, with confident, talented professors who enjoy making their students WORK.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe only social life here is Greek...and the Greek scene infiltrates sports teams as well. If you expect to play sports, be prepared to join a frat.
As for the non-Greek kids, we also have a sizable population of incredibly smart, probably genius-level kids, who are extremely exclusive (and RECLUSIVE) and eccentric.

AcademicsI have to admit, I've had a run of subpar professors...not only that, but the administration is totally bureaucratic. An example: last semester, I enrolled in a class (to be held this semester). A week before the semester began, the department dropped my section (for which there were two other sections) and refused to let me into one of the other sections because they were full. Oh, and did I mention that this was in my major? This is just one of the ways in which, as a student here, I've been given the runaround many times and not necessarily rewarded for my efforts to pursue the best academics I can.
The major and class selections are also flawed because they're so limited. There is not even a business major here!
The professors are not very helpful to students...or at least, they're uncompromising and have extremely high standards. In their collective eyes, every student needs to earn an "A" if they expect to get one, which is frustrating for the perfectionists among us...
Student BodyThere are two types of students here. A) The normalest of the normative. In other words, huge tools who keep the greek system up and running. They drink every night of the week and are really into drugs. They don't like anyone who is not their brother or sister. And then, by contrast, the least normal people ever, B) The extremely weird. They are so strange it is hard to explain...just check out the campus and take a couple of hours to people-watch and you'll see what I mean. They are, doubtlessly, brilliant people, but lack any and all social skills and also have a questionable relationship to hygiene.
In Closing...Don't consider this school unless you fit perfectly into one of the two student categories that I mentioned. If you don't, you are in for four years of misery.
I would also like to mention that Carlisle is not the friendliest place in the world.
looks like you did a really good job at the college search process.
