It's Been A Blast So Far!

Rating: 3/5 (67 ratings)
Introduction
Drake was the first school I looked at and knew it was for me right away. The campus is beautiful and the people are incredibly friendly. I knew I wanted to study politics and Des Moines is a great city to be in for that. Regardless of major, any high school student should be aware of the amount of work Drake requires from all undergrads. There are no "easy As" and a lot is expected of you. Only consider Drake if you know how to get your work done and manage time well.

Campus Life and Social Life
The party scene is impressive. Greek life provides a lot of outlets and the local bars are always busy. Football is not a big deal so Homecoming Weekend is disappointing. In the Spring, Relays make up for it with a full week of activities and parties.

Academics
Every professor I've had has been brilliant in his or her field. Drake doesn't use TAs so you don't get passed off to some graduate student. The Journalism school is highly respected and runs very smoothly. Professors are well-versed and engaged. The student-run publications are nationally recognized and award-winning.

Student Body
Most people come from middle or upper-middle class families. People are generally outgoing and a lot of fun. There are of course the groups; jocks, preps, etc, etc but everyone meshes well.

In Closing...
I couldn't be happier with my choice. Drake is an excellent university.
