Duke becomes a huge part of your life.

Rating: 1/5 (90 ratings)
Introduction
When considering Duke, keep in mind that here, you work hard and you play hard. Classes are demanding, there is a lot of homework and stuff to do. The upside is that there is also lots of fun stuff to do, between curricular activities and social life and sports. Duke will expand your mind in several directions. The only kind of student who should stay away from this school is the kind who is used to living in a big city and wouldn't like to live in a small town.

Campus Life and Social Life
I feel that students make of their social life what they want. There are lots of parties and things to do, although most of them are house/frat parties. There is a good bar scene although it is mostly for seniors or over 21 students. There are lots of sports events, tailgates for football games, and tenting for basketball games. There are some of the most fun events at Duke.
Academics
Academics are clearly Duke's major strengths. They are all very strong, and there are mostly good teachers. Some professors are not that good, but you hear about them through upper classmen. The workload is usually tough, but Duke admits the type of students that are able to handle it. The quality of the TA depends on the department, but it is easy to complain about bad TAs.

Student Body
Most students are very smart, very involved in some sort of activity, either sports or community service, or something of the sort. Most students are from the Northeast, many are from North Carolina and there are many international students.

In Closing...
Duke is an amazing school, I haven't met anyone at Duke who wasn't able to find a niche and be happy.
