Great School... for the most part

Rating: 4/5 (76 ratings)
Introduction
This is a SMALLLLLL school based on tradition. If you don't want your personal life spread around campus- not the best place to be. If you think that singing the alma mater from time to time (after orientation) is lame, don't come here. We are The Land Of Purple and Gold, so if you don't want to see everything in purple (including the rock salt) this isn't the best place for you, either. HOWEVER, the people are great, the academics are good, the financial aid makes it an affordable college, and it's like being surrounded by a big family.

Campus Life and Social Life
The weekends here cycle between studying/home/partying. It's usually party/party/home/study repeat. The parties are good, but we don't have frats/sororities, so that might be a downside for some people. However, we do have cottages, where people normally go to drink and have fun. Sports are a big part of campus life here, hockey in the winter, softball and lacrosse in the spring. There are over a hundred clubs on campus, and for this size school, that's a good number. It's also really easy to start new clubs.

Academics
The only department that has TAs is the art department. The biggest departments are Education, Nursing, and Business. The profs in these departments are great. The science department also has some great professors. Stay away from Myra Glenn in history. They say the workload is 3 hours for every hour you are in class, but that's an overexaggeration.

Student Body
Let's put it this way: there are things to do every weekend, thanks to Weekend Festivities, including comics, bands, and movies not yet out on DVD. However, for the most part, if you don't drink, it's too small to have a ton of other options.

In Closing...
There isn't always things to do, but it's a great school, good people, good professors. Like any school, it's hard to say if this will be the school for you, but I hope it helps! There are about 400 students in each graduating class, so something must be going right.
