A weird place
IntroductionI chose Emerson because I really wanted to have an unconventional college experience. I think to be an Emerson student you have to have a pretty good sense of yourself and be very self motivated, because if you don't push yourself to take advantage of everything there is to offer here you won't get out of the experience. If you really want to root for sports teams or don't have a sense of humor please don't come. We have virtually no sports and enough people with no sense of humor.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere are a million colleges in Boston so everything is theoretically availible. Weekends can vary, often a weekend will be spent doing some sort of project related to school (often a film shoot) but otherwise people do whatever they want. My favorite kind of night is drinking wine on the island in the duck pond in the public garden. We finger paint a lot. I have friends who go for a more traditional party scene in Allston and other friends who live in an obscenely nice apartment and do lots of coke. It really depends.

AcademicsSome professors are completely arrogant assholes, and others are just assholes. Either way, you are likely to get to know them pretty well. Classes tend to be small. Some classes are a total joke and that sucks, but you are guaranteed an A just for showing up. I am in the Political Communications department, and I hope it that will properly prepare me. I am learning at college, but sometimes I have my doubts.
I have never had a class with a TA.
Student BodyStudents tend to be from all over the US, though quite a few are from New England. We are notoriously offbeat, and that is true. Some people say everyone is different in the same way but I would beg to differ. Some people are hipsters but many are just plan weird. One girl glues mesh to her face every day. You can basically do and wear whatever you want here without seeming that weird in comparison to everyone else. I like the creative Emerson art-school kind of dress. It keeps things interesting.
In Closing...I'd like some more financial aid please. Maybe if more publications said students wanted it, they would give it for real. Really, I need it.
