E is for Eartsy

Introduction
If you want a REAL college experience Emerson is not for you! There is no REAL campus, and it's more like livng life in a city. BUT if you want to live in a city (but maybe are not ready for somthing like NYU in New York or USC in L.A.) Emerson has a great marketing/film/writing/publishing/audio department and it's cool to really be part of a city, not just a school. To that note, outside of the dorm it can be hard to make freinds, so if you plan on living off campus, especially first year, make sure you are really social, or know that you will get lots of alone time if you are not socail.

For the most part, Emerson kids are really dedicated and will work super hard in classes about their major because its really what they wnat in life. You can come without a major in mind, but it's not the best plan!

Campus Life and Social Life
Parties are cool, if you are friends with cool people. There are some sports, especially the basketall kids, they sporty kids really bond, otherwise nobody cares too much about sports. Clubs are the BIG thing at Emerson and how people make freinds, it's usually somthing that has to do with what you wnat to do in life! There is some Greek life and sometimes it's cool depending on your year and who you are, but it's small. Advertisement
Academics
People say its easy! Emerson is big on projects and stuff that has to do with your major, so it usually does not feel like work. There are not too many gen eds, which is a HUGE plus!

Student Body
Lots of people from the Northeast, but slowly changing to be more all over. For the most part people that know what they want out of life (usually to be in LA) and work hard at Emerson to get it. Most of the male population likes other males, WHICH is a huge PLUS for semi-decent guys cuz they get TONS of action at Emerson. Girls, go look for some Harvard boys or Berklee or something. We are pretty artsy, and most know computer stuff, used to be really goth, not so many of those any more. Emerson kids dress for class, there will be very little sweatshrit and sweats to class look, COME ON, we are in the middle of downtown Boston!

In Closing...
Check it out, Emerson kids are a bit off-beat, sometimes the social outcasts, sometimes the kinda cool kids. All depends, you just have to check it out and see if it fits you! BUT make sure you are ready for the cold of Boston, AND make sure to take some time and stroll through the pretty park (right between all the Emerson buildings) especially in fall and summer, it will make you life a lot happier.
