A Beautiful Campus

Rating: 4/5 (89 ratings)
Introduction
I was really, really taken aback by the campus itself in terms of the aesthetic values of the campus. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and it seemed like a very relaxed kind of nice college environment. It did seem a little- kind of manicured and pretty and perfect and that kind of scared me a little bit but I got used to it. The buildings, everything, it’s just like perfectly clean all the time it looks great.

Campus Life and Social Life
There is no football team and many would say that that is why we don’t have the huge school spirit of most schools but I would say that there is some school spirit. I would say that it’s not like an intense school spirit like you see at like state schools around their football team or Harvard v. Yale or Yale v. Harvard or anything like huge and intense. No one’s like “Go Emory, I want to die for my school kind of thing.” But we do have school spirit and we are proud of going to Emory and we do like going here. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t. School spirit is average, I would say.

Academics
I would say that it is no harder to go here than any other good school in America. But that being said, it’s challenging. It’s meant to challenge you. We have small classes, which is good. It makes it easier because you have more one on one with the teacher, professor, TA, whatever. You can ask a lot of questions. We don’t have a lot of classes that are huge and taught by TA’s. I mean they’re your standard like bio-chem and Chem 141, which are the weed-out classes because we have a huge pre-med and pre-business program here and so they tend to weed out those who think they’re going to do pre-med or whatever. And those are the big classes. But for the most part it’s small classes but because it’s small they demand more of you they know you personally, they want to see you doing well and so they push you hard. And it is not always easy.

Student Body
The party scene is I think right on key with academics. It’s kind of one of these—not to be cliché—but you party, your play hard kind of thing. You work hard, you party hard.
We have a very active Greek life on campus, if you so want to go to Greek life. I didn’t do that only because I don’t like to confine myself, I like to just be like all over the place. I have lots of friends and I don’t really want to be in one frat, but if you want to it’s more than perfect, I have lots of friends in Frats and they love it. It’s great fun, the sororities are active too they have a great, I guess, sisterhood, is what they call it. Weekends, it’s not even a matter of having an ID. If you can’t get off campus the Frats are normally always doing something on the weekends at least one night a week you will be able to go and party however you want to.

In Closing...
You should expect hard work. You could expect to work hard, put effort into it. You should also expect, though, to be able to have a good time, be open-minded. You will be faced with a lot of new things. Opportunities that might distract you from what you might have like as a goal and don’t ever be afraid to change what you want to do, because if there’s one thing I can say about Emory is that I’ve changed my mind about what it is I wanted to do with my life 300 times just being here and talking to people.
