A Perfect School
IntroductionI think that in one word Emory is PERFECT! It is not too big, but definitely not too small. You can walk around campus and see so many familiar faces, but still meet new people every day. It has a beautiful campus and at the same time minutes from downtown Atlanta. Emory has a great academic reputation and is challenging, but at the same time it is very easy to balance academics with a social life. Also, it is in the south, and you cannot beat the weather! It is amazing and people are generally happier here because the weather is so phenomenal.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe best part of social and campus life is that there is so much to do, so many options, and a good mix of diverse social activities. Every weekend there are frat parties, clubs, bars... There is something for everyone. You can explore Atlanta and all the fun and culture it has to offer or stay on campus and have a great time. I would say the worst thing about Emory campus life is the lack of spirit because we do not have a football team. But students still attend baseball and basketball and soccer games, or anywhere that offers free food! Although there aren't sports, we have great weather so on the weekends and after class many students hang out by the pool!
AcademicsThe school's academics are phenomenal. The classes are challenging, but not too hard. Teachers are very approachable and helpful and fair.
Student BodyMany people believe that the typical student at Emory is a loud, wealthy, Northerner. Usually from New York. I do not beleive that this is exactly valid, maybe it is because I am from NY. I think many people believe that the student body is composed of mostly New Yorkers and people from New Jersey, but in reality the student body is extremely diverse and there are people from all different places and from all walks of life. People believe there are mostly NYers because we stick together and are so loud and often intimidating. Also, any private school you look at will have a mostly wealthy student body since the tuitions are so expensive.
In Closing...Emory is the best school ever... weather, academics, social life, and a city... everything you could ask for... it's perfect!
