Perfect Mix of Social and School
IntroductionFlorida State is a big enough school that there is anything you want to do, but small enough that you can walk from class to class and see people you know. It is truly a southern school with everyone saying hello and always someone available for questions. If you want a school that is just academics and nothing else, then Florida State isn't for you! I chose Florida State because I felt at home... it is a very welcoming school!
Campus Life and Social LifeFootball, football, football! You would not believe the excitement during football season. Don't even think of wearing orange and blue or saying the word "gator." Greek life is pretty big, but you don't have to go greek to have fun! There is any club you can think of on campus. Plus, there is something called "The Rez" which has a beach, canoeing, and other beach-oriented activities.

AcademicsSome departments are great, others are mediocre. I have never had a class where the TA is the teacher (which is awesome)! FSU is great for the sciences: physics, meteorology (FSU IS THE ONLY PUBLIC SCHOOL IN FLORIDA WITH THAT PROGRAM), and chemistry. The music and theater schools are awesome, too. The college of business is big and also a program of repute.
The workload depends on the department you're involved with. Some are awesome, others are overwhelming, but all in all, it is manageable if you're willing to work toward balance between work and play.
Student BodyThe typical student is from Florida on Bright Futures and it can be anyone. The school is so diverse there is no "typical" student. The best advice (for school and life beyond) is to just be you!
In Closing...F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T-A-T-E, Florida State, Florida State, Florida State... wooo! Obviously, I've enjoyed my time and would highly recommend my experience to anyone willing to read about it.
