More than just Ben Franklin

Rating: 4/5 (44 ratings)
Introduction
Thee biggest piece of advice that I would give would be eventhough we do not offer overnight stays, take a tour and try visiting a class in a subject you might be interested in. The biggest challenge that most students face is juggling a social life and schoolwork. I would definitely still chose Franklin and Marshall.

Campus Life and Social Life
Best Things:
1. The People- Everyone is friendly and people smile at the people they pass going to class
2. Traditions- The college has a number of great traditions that are celebrated each year.
3. Opportunities- We have many successful alumni in a multitude of jobs around the country.
4. Parties- There are parties every weekend but if you don't want to drink you won't feel pressured.
5. The Greek System- The system is being revitalized on campus and is getting better each year.

Wost Things:
1. Location- There is not much to do in Lancaster at night and yes there are big cities nearby but you have to get there.
2. Clubs- It is hard to start a new club in terms of funding.
3. Dining Services- Most of the food is not so desirable but someone can always find something.
4. Diplomats- There is not much team spirit and our team name is not really intimidating.
5. Housing System- Franklin and Marshall had just implements a new housing system and it's still kind of shaky but it is getting better.

Academics
Best Things:
1. Professors- The professors are always willing to help and work with the students.
2. TAs- The only TAs are in lab so the professor is involved in all of the grading and teaching.
3. Pre-Med- The pre-med program is extremely hard but around 98% of the students are accepted to med school.
4. Study Abroad- There are many opportunites for Study Abroad and the school is willing to work with students planning the whole trip.
5. Libraries- There is a separate science library and many of the journals are available online.

Worst Things:
1. Chemistry Department- The chemistry department is hard to work with and most of the professors believe they are the best.
2. Workload- The workload is often difficult but it is not impossible to do.
3. Lab Credits- Labs don't count as a separate credit.
4. Summer Credits- It's sometimes hard to get credits to transfer from summer courses.
5. Classes- Being a small school, there is not a wide diversity of classes and some are only taught one semester out of the year.

Student Body
Most of the students are great. There are always the snobs but most of the students are easy to get along with. There are some preppy kids with popped collars but not everyone is like that. It is not uncommon for someone to show-up to class in their pajamas. Many of the students come from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast especially from New Jersey. Also, there is a large population of international students especially from India, Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Turkey. The typical student \"works hard and plays hard.\" During the week, students do work and on the weekend they do fun things. Most come to class in jeans or sweats and are involved in at least one club or organization.

In Closing...
I love Franklin and Marshall. It's a small school but I like the atmosphere and knowing everyone.
