Introduction
The best advice I can give is summed up quite nicely by a T-shirt in the book store: "Furman - Where Your Best Hasn't Been Good Enough Since 1826." If you want to excel at Furman, you are going to have to work at it. There is no way around it. But you get out what you put in, so most of the work is well worth it. I chose Furman because it offered a place to excel as well as gain worldly experience and knowledge (not everything is learned in books). They really promote study abroad trips, and most departments have them. Lazy, unmotivated, undedicated students should steer clear of here. You can't coast through Furman as you may have through high school.

Campus Life and Social Life
There are frat parties to be found on most weekends with shuttles running by the frat houses in order to prevent drunk driving. There are plently of varsity sports as well as any club sport you can think of, except for curling. Weekends are always a good time to relax and catch up on studies that you probably neglected during the week. There is usually plently to do in downtown Greenville. It isn't a huge city, but I can always find something entertaining.
Academics
The Health and Exercise Department is the greatest set of minds assembled on campus. All are personable, great teachers, and are willing to help in any way they possibly can. Not to say they are easy push overs...they are just fair. Most of the professors are awesome and tough but all in all very good teachers. Every department has its really hard, crazy teacher so you can't really judge a whole department on experiences had with just one professor. They are out there so don't be surprised if you get one. No TAs teach here; at least I've never had a class with one.

Student Body
The student body is mainly comprised of white, upper class people from the suburbs. The typical student is also fairly conservative. But there are plently of people who think differently pertaining to political matters. There is not a lot of ethnic variation but everyone seems to relate and interact well without any noticeable barriers to overcome.

In Closing...
With everything new flying at you, just work hard at balance and everything else usually works itself out.
