Fight Songs and More...

Rating: 4/5 (61 ratings)
Introduction
Some of the teachers were disappointing freshman year because you have those general classes, like the general English classes you have to take for GCR’s. I’m in Columbian School which is the arts and sciences program, but once you get into higher classes you can find some professors who are pretty amazing. Coming from Europe I never had the experience of having a fight song. I learned what a fight song was like two months after coming here. I think socially, it depends on the dorm that you are in. Don’t be in Strom, which is an all girl’s dorm. Which I got stuck in cause I didn’t know that. So my freshman year was kind of boring the first semester because I didn’t meet that many people. But if you get into Thurston or Hova, I know all my friends had really good experiences.

Campus Life and Social Life
You get friends that you really get to hang out with on the following years. Once you get able to go into bars it’s a lot of fun. You walk around the block and you’re in a pub, so it’s really fun. Most of the clubbing places are on 18th and M unless you go to Georgetown or Adams Morgan. 4 ride, which is a really cool free cab we get hearing during the night, will bring us there so we don’t even have to walk to clubs, which is pretty nice.
Academics
It’s still DC, I heard some friends got mugged, but I think that happens everywhere in general. I mean there’s UPD all around. Because we’re like 5 blocks from the White House, we have a lot of officers walking around all the time so.

Student Body
Class sizes in general are pretty good. I think in most school all intro classes will have like 100 –300 students. And it’s actually cool too because you have a university experience I think. But most classes that you’ll take you’ll have an average of 12-18 students. If you want to you really get to know your teachers, they’re generally pretty happy to see you after classes. They’ll help you with your papers. I think the thing you have to realize is like every university you have to make the step towards the professor. I mean, it’s not the professor that’s going to keep on coming to you…if you put in your part they’ll be there for you so it’s pretty nice.
