Frats at GWU?
IntroductionThe George Washington experience is pretty good. I’m in a fraternity so I can tell you that fraternity life is really good here. They do a lot of things with that. The partying is good, first year or two when you’re a freshman sophomore, like to go out to the clubs and what not. Then when you come of age, 21, go out to the bars. Lots of good bars around here. There is a very good bar scene, so that’s great for the college students.
Campus Life and Social LifeGreek life still exists here. It’s definitely not as big as it is at other state schools, basically because the amount of students that we have here is far less than other schools. However it is still strong. There’s a bunch of fraternities and sororities on campus to choose from. And they all offer a lot in their own way. The Greek community comes together to survive.
AcademicsThese professors know what’s going on, their involved with the activities on a daily basis so it’s very easy for them to convey all that information to you. The workload isn’t that bad. You do have to do a lot of work for a lot of the classes. Now every class varies. Some classes don’t require as much work as others. There are a lot of things that you can take advantage of and if you decide to fill your schedule up, which is very easy, you don’t have a lot of time. But as far as just classes go, the workload’s manageable.
Student BodySome of the downsides to George Washington is that it’s not a real campus. It’s a lot of buildings clustered together with a few open spaces. So if you’re looking for a real campus, a large campus with a lot of people, I wouldn’t really say George Washington is the place for you. However if you’re looking for a great place to seek out jobs for the future, get great experience, get a great education, and meet a lot of cool people, I think GW is a great place.
