Diverse and Friendly

Rating: 5/5 (20 ratings)
Introduction
The whole Jesuit ideology of trying to educate the whole person really appeals to me. It was a liberal arts school, which I also liked. The campus is really small but it’s a really pretty campus, so I was impressed. Georgetown is a very driven campus, but people also know how to relax, so it’s not like you feel like you’re in a stressful environment all the time. It kind of varies because there are people who are always stressed out as well as people who have nothing going on so you get a balance.

Campus Life and Social Life
The typical Georgetown student probably came from a preppy family, probably had some money behind them. A lot of them are here for SFS or government cause that’s what Georgetown’s strong for.A lot of people are into sports. I don’t think there’s a type of person who wouldn’t necessarily like Georgetown because I feel like there is enough diversity here that you can make this campus what you want it to be. While it’s not the most diverse campus, there are enough varying people here that you can find your niche no matter what you interests are.
Academics
I would say that the people here are very attractive. Khakis, polo, shirts, typically with the popped color which I am not a fan of just for the record. Other than that girls wear skirts. People don’t wear shorts in general. Flip flops all the time, even in winter. Lot of people from New Jersey or from New England in general. There are also a lot of people from California, but I think 49 of the 50 states are represented. And there’s also a fairly large international contingent. I feel like people here generally tend to get along, if they don’t get along with someone they just avoid them as opposed to coming in direct conflict with them.

Student Body
A lot of the Jesuits live on campus, and they are professors some of them, some are not.
A lot of the professors here are involved in with research or are involved with an outside project, but at least what my experience with them have been is, their students come first. So they have open office hours, they’re very willing to set up outside meetings with you if you can’t not meet with them during their office hours. They really want to make sure that there are here for you as a student, as their priority. There are definitely people who skip class, but mostly people are in class because like I said you have a lot of flexibility in what you want to take. So they’re taking classes that they’re interested in taking in. While not everyone goes to class all the time. More people go to class than do not.
