The good and the bad...

Rating: 5/5 (54 ratings)
Introduction
The biggest thing that Georgia State University has going for it is that it is located right in the middle of Downtown Atlanta. Starbucks and Atlanta's concert venues are what attracted me to GSU. It's a great place to go if you're interested in city life.

Campus Life and Social Life
GSU has some awesome parties. You have to be social at GSU if you want any kind of partying action. The only people that don't have any fun at Georgia State are the students that commute and don't have any social skills. If you join a fraternity, you're guaranteed to party constantly. There's a pretty good greek scene. GSU has hundreds of clubs and associations for almost anything that you can think of. Sports aren't GSU's strong points. There's no football team, but basketball is really big. Weekends were made for partying, but since GSU is in Atlanta, you can pretty much party every night. There are lots of nightclubs in ATL.
Academics
Class sizes can range from a class of about 20 people to classes with 100+ students. Most of the professors are great and they don't rely too heavily on TAs. Workload varies from class to class, and a lot of homework is done online through WebCT.

Student Body
Georgia State has a LOT of non-traditional students. You can look around the class and find people not only in their late teens and early twenties, but also a lot of older students. I've seen students in their 50s and I've heard of a few in their 70s. I think that the average age of a GSU student is 27. There is also huge diversity among the students at GSU. You can see students of every color from all over the US and the world. White is the majority, but barely. There is a lot of blacks, asians, indians, and others at GSU as well. GSU also has a pretty large gay community. Students at GSU tend to have a lot of political interests as well as art, music, and partying. There are a lot of cliques at state too. There's the emo kids, the greeks, punks, rappers, intellectuals, anime freaks and countless others.

In Closing...
I wouldn't recommend that any racists or homophobes come to GSU; you might have an awkward time.
The biggest problem with GSU is maintenance and communication. City life rocks. Don't give money to the bums of Atlanta!
