Gettysburg College

Introduction
I chose this school because it's in a friendly, small town, and everyone in this close-knit community is friendly and inclusive.

That said, a warning: students looking for an easy four years without picking up a book should stay away. The academics here are tough - which is why the party scene on the weekends is so awesome - and you will have to work.

Campus Life and Social Life
Greek life is huge here, and it makes up most of the social outlets and party life. We do have a wide variety of clubs and organizations, but they're a distant second in terms of what they add to the weekend/night social scene. Sports, with the exception of lacrosse, are not our specialty or a major focus here.

Academics
For the most part, full professors teach classes (though we do have TAs on hand for extra support) and demand a lot. The homework load isn't overwhelming, but it's consistent. Be prepared to pay attention in and out of the classroom.

Student Body
The typical student here - though there are exceptions - is from Pennsylvania or New Jersey and is preppy, affluent, and psyched about Greek Life and lacrosse. Having said that, the student body is pretty nice on the whole, and most kids have a conscience, volunteering in local community service in between keggers and trips to J Crew.

In Closing...
Gettysburg is a great school. It is academically challenging but the students play as hard as they work. To reiterate, the one big drawback is the lack of diversity, though the school is taking steps every year to improve that.
