GCC - God's College
IntroductionGrove City College is a school that is completely sold on the idea that it is their job to mold you into a polite, well-behaved model citizen. Oh yeah, their entire philosophy is centered Christian conservatism. That is the single largest drawback about this school. No evolution, no drugs, no sex, and no drinking.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe best part of campus life is that everything happens on campus. This means that you won't have to walk very far to get to anything. There are lots of events during "Welcome Week" for Freshman to attend that will plug you into the school culture.
The worst part of social/campus life is that the rules are beyond Draconian. Men and women live on separate parts of campus. The only time to visit the other dorms are the school specified hours on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. Breaking this rule will result in a $50 fine and a mark on your record. Drinking is another thing that is outlawed. If you are underage and are caught with alcohol and/or are drunk, you will be automatically suspended for a week. The security guards are so serious about this that they will unlock your door at 5:30 in the morning, wake you up, and breathalize you just under suspicion. They are even more serious about sex and drugs. If you're caught doing either, pack your bags because you're expelled. Again, the school is dead serious about these rules and Campus Safety spares no effort in searching out violators. If you want to have fun, in the technical definition of what you do at college, pass on Grove City.

AcademicsThe academics at Grove City College are phenomenal. This is the reason why so many "troublemakers" will stick out the struggles and frustrations of a total lack of campus life for four years. If you graduate from GCC, it's almost guaranteed that you will either be in grad school or have a career job within six months of getting your diploma.
HOWEVER, one thing to keep in mind is that Grove City is an ultra conservative Christian school. There will be no evolution or postmodern elements of your education. This means that you will be taking "Humanities" classes for four years that teach you nothing more than how Christianity is THE ONLY answer and that everybody else is wrong. You will also be learning Creation Science.
The Political Science department is incredible. The professors know enough people that if you want an internship in Washington DC, you can easily find one. The drawback is that it will most likely be in a conservative office. Many students end up working for the Heritage Foundation, a Washington based conservative thinktank.
Student BodyThe student body at Grove City College is the most homogenous group of people you will ever meet. I only know of 5 African Americans (at most) in the entire Freshman class this year. In fact, the Princeton Review listed GCC as the 2nd Most Homogenous Student Population in the nation.
Most students are very studious. It's not uncommon to find that all of your friends are busy studying when you want to hang out. This creates a very boring atmosphere on campus.
There are a lot of snitches among the student population. Just because you're drunk and got past the security guards doesn't mean you're safe. If a fellow student sees you stumbling down the hall, you're most likely going to be ratted out.
However, I have to give some credit to these people. They are all stand-up people. They are honest and hard working. Aside from that, don't be different. Being different isn't kosher at GCC.
In Closing...For anybody looking for a normal college atmosphere, DO NOT APPLY TO GROVE CITY.
