Hofstra Advice
IntroductionThe biggest piece of advice I would give to a high school student that wants to come to Hofstra is just to get involved with everything that our school has to offer. There are an incredible amout of clubs and other types of extracurricular activities that are available to the students here. I chose Hofstra mainly because of the reputation of their school of education. The academics here are very strong and I know when I graduate that a degree from Hofstra is respected in my future career.
Campus Life and Social LifeHofstra is a lot like other college campuses and if you want to find a party, you will be able to. A lot of times partying is done off campus or in the bars nearby. As for other types of extracurriculars, almost anything you want to find, you can...and if what you want isn't here, you can create the club yourself.

AcademicsI think that the academics here at Hofstra are great...I've always had a good experience with my professors as well. They know their stuff and they're always willing to help you out if you're struggling in a class. Plus, the class sizes are kept very small so you really develop a relationship with your professor. TA's don't teach classes either, so you know that you're being taught by an expert in the field. The workload isn't bad either, you have to be organized and do you work, but it's not impossible.
Student BodyIt's kind of hard to describe a typical Hofstra student because you really can find all types of people at this school. However, because of the location on Long Island, you will find a fair amount of students that are used to getting what they want. Most of the students that attend Hofstra are from New York, but in recent years, there has been an increase in out-of-state students.
In Closing...Hofstra is a great school! The strongest departments here are Education, Business and Communication.
