Wonderful School

Rating: 4/5 (7 ratings)
Introduction
Hofstra University is a wonderful school with a wide range of opportunities open to you, regardless of your specific major. During the course of my first year, Hofstra has become like a second home to me. It is a beautiful campus. The people are very helpful. School spirit is tremendous! I would say the only kind of student who should stay away from Hofstra, are those just looking to attend class and head straight home. There is way to much to do here to not become involved. Although, if that's your thing, there is no real reason for you not to attend.

Campus Life and Social Life
The social life at Hofstra in wonderful. Odds are, if you're sitting in your room and you're bored... you're lying. There is always something going on. Sporting events are HUGE! Most games are sold out. Also, free t-shirts at many of the events! =) Clubs are also pretty popular. There are many things to do on the weekends. Whether you want to take a 4 minute ride to the mall.. a 20 minute drive to the beach.. or a 30 minute train ride into New York City.

Academics
I would have to say that the top 3 departments at Hofstra University would be education, business, and communications. As far as ones that suck, I've never really heard of any. Professors here are wonderful.. and I'm not just saying that. They're not just here to teach a class. They actually care about you. They look out for what's in your best interest. They encourage you to come see them at their office hours. As far as the workload, it depends on what classes you take. Obviously some require more work than others, but regardless... you have more free time to make up for it.

Student Body
It's hard to describe a "typical" student, because everyone is so different. There are people here from all over the world... which is wonderful. I've gotten to know people from Serbia, Brazil, Korea, Japan. Overall though, I would say everyone that comes here is looking to get involved with some team, club, or other organization.

In Closing...
I love Hofstra. I think it is a wonderful school. There are many opportunities. It's GREAT! =)
