My IWU

Introduction
Illinois Wesleyan is most definitely for a student willing to take on a workload that can be very heavy and difficult at times. The important thing to remember when dealing with this is that it is a very reputable school, and a degree from here can give you en edge on a lot of other people vying for the same job. If you don't have the discipline to be able to stay in on weekends here and there to make sure you get the proper work done, this school isn't for you. You really need to be able to concentrate and be efficient in the work you do, and always do it to the best of your abilities because you are in classes with many other very bright students, and are therefore, in competition with some of the best.

Campus Life and Social Life
There is always something to do around campus whether it be going to a fraternity party, or an off campus party. The school also hosts many events as well such as movies, bands, entertaining speakers, stand-up comedy shows, and small festval type activities. Because Illinois State is less than a mile away, Wesleyan also gives the the chance to experience the party scene of a larger school. Many students will commute to ISU by bus or by foot to enjoy some of the parties that school has to offer if they feel like a change of scene from the IWU social life. For upperclassmen, downtown Bloomington has a great bar scene. There are plenty of different types of bars, pubs, and clubs for all different interests and groups. Advertisement
Academics
Illinois Wesleyan prides itself on its Biology, Business/Marketing, and Art/Theater departments. The biology program is a very selective and difficult program to get into and get through, but there are many excellent professors and TAs to help guide you along the way and eventually help you get into med-school or whatever you may choose to do after IWU. The business program is very strong, and leads students into excellent internships that lead to very promising jobs upon graduation. The art/theater major is also one of great prestige. Students here are given many chances to perform here at IWU, as well as travelling oppotunities to other parts of the US and the rest of the world.

The workload is heavy here at IWU, but in the end it will pay off if you are willing to put in the time and effort to excell academically here.

Student Body
Althugh Wesleyan is a small school of only a few thousand students, it has a great atmosphere. Students are very freindly and socially out-going. There are plenty of ways to meet new people such as intramural activities, fitness classes, campus planned activities, clubs, and social activites. There is always some sort of social activity going on for any and all to participate in.

In Closing...
Illinois Wesleyan is an excellent school overall, although the difficulty level is not for someone who is lazy or unwilling to do the work. It may seem hard at times, but never impossible. Aside from the difficulty, there is plenty one can do to wind down and relax, or just blow off some steam at any time of the week or weekend. IWU is a school for students looking to do something profound and out of the ordinary with their lives through their academic abilities and overall character.
