Find Your Place!
IntroductionIf you like big schools, this is the place to be. If you do not exactly know what you want to major in, Indiana is a nice because of the variety of courses.
Campus Life and Social LifeMy biggest complaint about the social and campus life at Indiana revolves around the Greeks. I really do not like those kind of people, but you cannot really avoid them - they throw all the parties, etc. Now, not everybody here is involved with greek life, but being under 21 is a bit stressful because Greeks are pretty much the only options.
If you're looking for live music, most of the bands that come here are usually at the bars. Fake IDs are fine but the bars to get raided for fakes, so be careful. You just have to find your scene... and again, if you're under 21, it's hard unless you're into the whole Frat thing.

AcademicsI am a Journalism major. The intro classes sucked! But I like the rest of them except J201(Asher) - she's annoying, avoid her. The department is nice though. The advisors are good, especially Lauren Kinzer. While many people think Journalism is a "blow off" major, the classes get significantly harder as you progress, so be prepared for a serious increase in workload. Freshman year is very easy so don't waste your time getting bad grades then - take advantage of that time and boost your GPA.
Student BodyAs far as the student body, the girls can get annoying. There are quite a few typical New Yorkers. Loud, abnoxious, and love to flaunt their money. That includes New Jersey as well... but Indiana is so large that there truly is no typical student - there really is a variety of people on campus, as long as you don't surround yourself by sororities, where every girl is pretty much a Stepford Wives copy of every other one!
In Closing...In closing, adjusting to life at any college is difficult - so be patient. I wanted to transfer out of here my first semester freshman year, but I waited it out and I ended up liking it. I am a junior now and I am not in love with the school - but I do not regret coming here. I met my boyfriend (who is from Kentucky) and I am from Maryland, which was a big surprise. So, going to a school like Indiana, which again is big, and can be a little intimidating, can also be great in that is can present quite a few surprises that you will happy leaving with!
