GREAT DEAL!

Rating: 2/5 (89 ratings)
Introduction
I already graduated but I’m starting law school this summer here at IU.

Bloomington is so exciting and everyone’s going someone and doing something and there’s this exchange of ideas and the culture in this town is amazing.

You walk through campus and you’re hearing language after language after language. There are 5 Thai restaurants, 2 Tibetan restaurants, and Ethiopian restaurants, and Mediterranean.

I’m actually staying in Bloomington for another 3 years because I love it so much.

Campus Life and Social Life
We have one of the top music schools in the country, we have one of the top business schools in the country, one of the top schools of Public Environmental Affairs and I kind of wish I had been able to take classes in those fields. The workload is not too much at all.

There are so many students from overseas, I’m amazed at how many people from like New York City and California and all these huge amazing places.

There’s a women’s race on Friday, there’s men’s race on Saturday. The bars are packed. There’s just a keg on every front porch and like the weather is beautiful this time of year and it’s the biggest party weekend of the year.

The movie Breaking Away it’s based on the lil 500 race.

I just have so much respect for my friends that ride in the race. Cause they don’t drink for a year, they don’t smoke for a year, they don’t go out, they train. Spring break they don’t go to Acapulco, they don’t go to Cancun, and they go to Florida and ride their bikes all week. People train for a year. They take it very, very seriously.

Usually each sorority and fraternity has a team. A lot of times the dorms will get together a team.

Cutter is actually a slang term for townie- people that aren’t students but that are from Bloomington.

I love the Greek life. For different events like Homecoming and lil 5 you pair up. Fraternities and sororities they pair and they have parties all week and do events together.

Academics
A lot of houses have a lot of fun things. They raise money for charities and it’s also really good for networking.

We have a drink called the frat boy which we don’t really sell a lot be because it’s really, really strong. It’s considered a death shot so you really only get like one of those a night. It’s Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Johnnie Walker Black, and Cuervo.

We have 23 different flavors of Long Islands, we have a shooter menu of about 100 shooters, which are like mixed drink shots.

Really I think the only night people don’t go out in Bloomington is Sunday.

Sunday and Tuesday are off nights but pretty much every other night we’re packed.

Student Body
The Union’s got conference rooms, it has a Burger King, it’s got a Starbuck’s type place, it’s got all kinds of restaurants, there’s even like an alternative Kiva food, which is like all-vegan and stuff. There are couches. If you are between classes and want to go take a nap, they have like the comfiest couches you could imagine. You can go to sleep, you can study there, there’s a bowling alley, there’s an arcade.

A lot of people have weddings at the Union and they have wedding receptions at the Union and there’s a hotel in the Union and basically it’s like the central hub of campus. It’s got everything you could imagine.

In Closing...
Just look around, this place is gorgeous. It’s got some of the top programs in the nation. The people are awesome; it’s so inexpensive compared to other schools.
