For Better or For Worse
IntroductionIf you're interested in Design, Fashion, Architecture, or Nursing Kent is definitely for you, we have a good reputation in those departments. I can't really speak for any other majors. I came from a college prep school, so my first year here was like going back to freshman year of high school as far as class difficulty goes.
One reason I chose Kent was for its rural campus, yet its close enough to downtown Kent and the night scene you can walk if the weather is nice.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe bars downtown are AWESOME! I love walking down to Franklin Street on Friday nights to do a little double-fisting: no one has to worry about being a DD! Bowling around here is really cheap, too. The movie theater sucks but they still carry the biggest releases.

AcademicsLike I said, our Design, Fashion, Architecture and Nursing programs are among the top in the nation. Being a Graphic Design major, I can unequivocally say that our professors are the best you could ask for. Our department has a bond unlike any other on campus, everyone knows everyone, students and professors alike. There are lots of great opportunities in the design program.
Student BodyWell, I can't say much about the "typical" student. I guess if I had to generalize the students at Kent, I'd say there are two types: artsy/hippie or preppy sorority/fraternity. Everyone else is somewhere inbetween. Kent is a really liberal school so we get a real good number of hippies, but we're also a "party" school, so theres a ton of frats, too. You just have to pick your poison, I guess.
In Closing...Every university has problems, and Kent has its fair share. If I could do college all over again I'd do it all the same. I love it here despite some of the poorly distributed funds and stupid policies.
