Introduction
Picking a college is a difficult and important decision: please do your research. I came to Kent State because it was close, affordable, and it had my major. I'm wishing now that I would have looked into other options. I changed my major from Visual Communication Design to Advertising because basically, the VCD school was complete HELL. If you are out of state, think very carefully about attending Kent State or any other state school because it is very expensive, you could go to a private college for the price of Kent's out of state tuition rate.

Campus Life and Social Life
So many clubs, sports, and groups, but so little time. I can't complain. Kent has anything from Greek life, to cultural groups, and intermural sports. Unfortunately, weekends are sometimes rather boring due to the "suitcase campus" syndrome. Too many people go home on the weekends, leaving Kent quiet. Thursday is definatly the "party night." There is always a party going on somewhere on Thursday nights, and it hardly takes more than 20 minutes to walk anywhere. Living in the residence halls is very expensive and the dining halls are also outrageously expensive so look into apartment housing after your sophomore year, however the residence hall experience is of great value. Most of my best college memories have taken place in the dorms. The Residence Hall staff is very professional, helpful, and nice.

Academics
Kent has some very nice programs - Fashion, Architecture, and Technology are notorious for being some of Kent's finer points. I have not liked my professors in my basic classes too much but once you get into your upper division classes, you will find dedicated and professional professors. It is very easy to get into Kent, however to graduate or even get accepted into your major is a major pain in the ass unless you have perfect grades. Take "Seven Ideas that Shook the Universe!" It is a science course that was recently voted the most popular course on campus, for it's professors, subjects, and ease.

Student Body
Kent claims to have a very "diverse" body of students but I still feel like Kent State is very middle class, white American. Most students are from northeast Ohio, however a large chunk of them are from surrounding big cities like Cincinatti, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.

In Closing...
We have many stores and business that are in Kent, or very close - Chipotle, numerous pizza places, Target, Wal-mart, Starbucks, almost every fast food place (except Mc Donalds?!?) and about a dozen tanning salons. Kent also has its share of unique stores and boutiques, and tons of bars. Kent is rather nice, but most of the surrounding cities are trashy and low class, in my opinion. (Except for Stow.)
