Transfered after the first semester

Rating: 3.1/5 (32 ratings)
Introduction
Unless you are from long island this school might not be for you. I came from lower westchester and relized the first day that everyone already knew each other because for the most part they all went to school with each other. Obviouly you can make friends if you look but you need to be very out going and involve yourself to the fullest and even then it might be hard.

Campus Life and Social Life
For the most part there is nothing to do. Thursday is the party night since everyone goes home on the weekends but even then on thursday the biggest party youll find in the one 10 friends are having in their dorm room. But if your looking for some parties on friday or saturday you better have a car to go to hofstra or a club or bar. The clubs are decent but not to many people join them. The radio station which is a nice setup never has more than 2 or 3 people in at a time and half the student body even knows there is one on campus. The sport teams arent to bad but not many people are into it. Its D 2 so the games dont mean that much and stands are usally pretty empty.

Academics
Almost anyone can get in. As my RA told me on my first day, they will accept anyone who can pay. My suitemate almost failed out of high school and had a D+ average and still got in. I talked to one girl who was accepted to go just a week before classes started. The teachers arent to bad and most of them are actally pretty fun but the other half of the professors are dull and seem to cant wait to go home themselves. The workload is managable but with kids going here who almost failed out of high school is it wasent they would lose money from drop outs and trust me, cw post is a school into making money and they wouldnt want that. Also all of the professors i have had only make themselves avaible once a week for half an hour unless you make an appointment and even then youll schedule it durning their half an hour they stay in their office.

Student Body
Most of the kids here are rich spoiled long island kids who didnt want to go to college but their parents made them. If you come into the school not knowing anyone and even worse not living in long island then you better home you get dealt with a someone else in the same positon as you or you might be out of luck. There is no school spirt at all and half the campus doesnt even dorm. The kids who do dorm go home on the weekends and the kids who dorm and dont go home on the weekends end up bored in their dorms doing nothing.

In Closing...
I transfered after the first semester just plainly because i couldnt stand this place anymore. Even people who enjoy it plan to transfer out. If you want a solid education, awsome parties, an exciting sports team, and an excited friendly student body from all over the nation or northeast or even state of new york then do not go here. My roomate but this school in the best terms i have ever heard when he said "this is like a community college with dorms".
