Loyola Marymount = Hell Yeah!
Rating: 2/5 (100 ratings)
IntroductionI chose LMU because it is a small school in Los Angeles. I wanted a community feeling, and that is exactly what i got here!
Campus Life and Social LifeDon't come here if you want to party all the time. You choose how involved you become in campus life, and if there is nothing to do on the weekends, you can always go into LA and do anything you want. While there are parties here, there are not nearly as many as I would like or as many as my friends at other colleges have at their fingertips. It is a common activity to "pre-party" and drink in your room with a few close friends, then walk around and socialize on campus. We often go to UCLA and USC (both nearby) to go to the real parties.

AcademicsProfessors are great. They know everything there is to know about the subject they teach. TAs do not teach classes, nor do they grade papers, so you are truly getting instruction from the person who knows the material best. The classes are great and structured much like high school classes in that they're small and you really get to know your classmates and professors on an individual basis. This is the best thing about LMU: you are not a number, but an individual with specific strengths and weaknesses.
Student BodyWalking around LMU is like watching Laguna Beach on MTV. Everyone is beautiful and if they aren't, they get plastic surgery until they are. Class is like a fashion show. There is a lot of wealth here. I couldn't believe the cars in the student parking lot when I first saw them!
In Closing...The small-school aspect can be really great, but also not so great. Academically, it is ideal, but socially, it means you really need to put yourself out there in order to meet new people.
