The Holy Grail of the Midwest
IntroductionThe best advice I would give a student is try to establish yourself before the semester begins. The university does not hold your hand and guides you through every crevice on campus. Make the effort in doing it yourself. Keep in mind that Marquette is very oriented in the academics and lack in the sports, except the Marquette basketball team. I chose Marquette because of the Biomedical Sciences Program offered at the university. The program aids an individual in pursuing his/her health profession career. It could be pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, or optometry; the program has it all for you to succeed.
The students who enjoy a party life and not study as much should probably not join the program but instead another lenient major within Marquette.
Also, If you like the cold weather, then I recommend you to apply to Marquette. It will be cold enough that you thought you might have landed in Antarctica.
The party setting is quite disappointing, there is not many large parties usually a small crowd at a random house. Furthermore, if somebody tips the security on campus then the party is broken up, and your night of enjoyment ends too early.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe weekends depends on your major at Marquette. If you're a science major, you most likely be found in the library studying for a Monday or Tuesday exam(s). I do normally find other people at the bars by Thursday, also known as "Thirsty Thursdays", and Fridays is usually a larger gathering in only two different bars (Caffrey's and Murphy's).
The sports life at Marquette is only absorbed to the girl volleyball team and the men basketball team. There are also people who attend the Madison's football season, usually there is a badger bus that will take students to Madison and back for a cheap price.
If you are very involved within the clubs offered at Marquette, you will be kept busy for your weekends, from the board breaking Taekwondo team or the rhythmic dancing/fighting of the Capoeira team to the comical songs of the A Cappella; there is a variety of clubs to choose from usually there is one club that will fit your liking.

AcademicsThe department of Biomedical Sciences are wonderful with many of these professors coming from top-notch schools.T The business school is also a great program, ranked in the U.S. News in the top 50. Marquette University is above average in their academics and strives for the student to succeed by offering hefty workload. Keep in mind, the workload depends on the major.

In Closing...Overall, great education.
