BEST FOUR YEARS OF YOUR LIFE!
IntroductionWhile this school may not be very diverse (92-94% Caucasian), as a minority I still absolutely love this school and have never had a problem fitting in. Many minority students do have a difficult time here but I really feel as though that is changing for the better. When you consider your school, location is very important - I chose a school that was just the right distance away so if I never needed to go home, it wouldn't take a great deal of effort or time. Miami is a public school so the cost isn't outrageous either. More and more out-of-staters also attend Miami as it is becoming more well-known nationally.
Campus Life and Social LifeWeekends generally depend on what year of college you are - freshmen typically go to fraternity parties, sophomores start enjoying the bar scene and still dabble in frat parties, juniors like the house parties and bar scenes, and seniors are usually found uptown. I love the weekends at Miami - there is ALWAYS something to do! Greek life is also quite prevalent here but not necessary in order to have a social life.
AcademicsThe Business school at Miami is very well reputed and is becoming more challenging to get into. Miami overall is a great school for undergraduate studies. Miami is a difficult school - classes are challenging and students are very ambitious. I have met so many wonderful people during my college career. We also have a campus abroad in Luxembourg and that is also an experience that is very worth-while. The program might need some work but you have the opportunity to travel around Europe for either a whole semester or for 6 weeks during the summer - TAKE ADVANTAGE!
Student BodyTypical students are known to be "thin, rich, and white" but that honestly is not the case all the time. I don't think you need to be thin, rich, and white to fit in, you just need to be open-minded and have a welcoming personality.
In Closing...I would strongly recommend Miami because it is a very well-rounded school: the academics are strong, the partying scene is great, the people are nice, and the campus is beautiful.
