best time of my life
IntroductionMiami University offers a broad liberal arts education from which you gain a larger understanding of your world and your role within it. Adjusting to the University is incredibly easy for most, the greek system is a tremendously welcoming organization for all types of students... The trick is figuring how to balance all the fun and schoolwork.OF COURSE... I loved my college experience... wouldn't trade it for the world. Miami offers the stereotypical fun college atmosphere you want to be a part of.
Campus Life and Social LifeBEST
1. Parties, bars, events are always going on... every night there is a different theme at a different bar.
2. The mid-west is really more friendly. Whether its professors or students, people are genuinely kind.
3. The campus is the perfect size that you aren't horribly overwhelmed freshman year and know almost everyone at the bar by the time you're a senior
4. The campus is beautiful! Its provides all of the needs (sports, rec, academic, housing etc.) all within the beautiful brick buildings of a comfortably sized campus
5. The university offers so much and encourages involvement from all students... club sports, sorority/fraternity, intermurals, community service... its all there
Worst
1. Not much around Oxford
2. Students may be a bit homogenous
3. Housing off campus is competitive
4. Really caters to those who like to be involved and active... and may alienate those who are not.
5. Hard to commute from an area outside of the midwest
AcademicsBest
1. competitive
2. caring one on one professors - not TAS
3. wide range of options for classes
4. open liberal educational curriculum
5. Thematic sequence encourages exploration outside of major
worst
1. business school is made prominant
2. Less worldly professors
Dunno what else
Student BodyTypical student is the do-it all in High School. President of student council, varsity captain for 3 years, tons of APs, and popular ( in a good way) is the type of student that finds their way to Miami. Interested in working hard and playing hard... playing very hard at times. Increasingly more out of state students but mostly midwesterners from pretty well off, sometimes sheltered, backgrounds.
In Closing...If you're open to having fun and working hard, Miami promises to be the best time of your life...
