Love and Honor to Miami
IntroductionAN OVERVIEW
Visit- You will fall in love. If you were to ask all the students at Miami what led them to the campus, the overwhelming majority would say the visit. When people visit Miami, it hits home, its a bubble, its perfect. Miami is a true college town, and Oxford caters to one of the prettiest universities in the nation. I had absolutely no problem adjusting to Miami University and fell in love immediately.
I would also encourage students to consider Miami's bright future:
Miami's "First in 2009" campaign has aims to make this school even better.
Goals include:
Tougher admissions standards and a more prestigious student body.
A more diverse student body
A new curriculum
More professor support
New Facilities (all to be completed by 2009)
New Psychology Building
Yager Stadium Rennovation (Football)
Indoor Practice Facility (Football)
New Softball Field
New Fine Arts Building and Dining Area
New Business School
New Engineering Building/Complex
New Engineering Quad
Two new parking garages (one underground)

Campus Life and Social LifeSOCIAL LIFE
The Good:
1. The Social Scene is alive- and everyone knows when to balance academics with fun. Its work hard, play hard.
2. People love Miami- they always stay on weekends
4. You can get involved
5. Division 1 Sports- Miami consistently fields solid athletic programs. Hockey is huge here, and a new Ice Arena will only add to the fever- You will learn to love hockey. The team is currently 2nd in the nation.
6. Greek System- the Greek life is one of the biggest in the nation and this keeps the social life going. But do not be alarmed- these are not your stereotypical frats and sororities- because there are so many there is one for everyone.
7. Excellent food- consistently ranked top 5 in the nation
The Bad:
1. Not much outside of Oxford- If you want to go to school in a city: wrong choice... but, Cincinnati and Dayton are close enough and people often travel there.
2. Everyone loves Miami, but school spirit could be higher.

AcademicsACADEMICS
The Good:
1. Strong Business school
2. Easy to talk to profs
3. Very small number of classes taught by TAs- this is an undergrad focus.
4. Workload is tough-but manageable
5. Most of my classes are around 15, 20 or 60 and a few are between 100-200.
The Bad:
1. Needs even-more qualified students
2. Not well-known outside of the Midwest for job seekers
Student BodyTHE STUDENTS
J. Crew U? I SAY NO
the school definently has a preppy feel, but people wear anything, and the majority wear SWEATS to class. The point: you will not feel uncomfortable dressing up or down. I actually dress up about 4 times more at home than at Miami.
***The video on this website does a horrible job depicting the student body.
The majority of people don't "try to look as rich as possible" or "buy the most expensive jeans". That is redicuolous.
The truth: Miami is more wealthy than most schools, and thus students look nice. Still, these are some of the nicest people you will ever meet- students here look nice and act nice- and they love other people and want to make friends. No one is stuck up- they simply love Miami University.
You will have friends from everywhere- for a state school, Miami has an enormous amount of out-of-staters (esp. Chicago and Minnesota for some reason). You will know someone from almost every state.
Finally, the size of the school is great. There are tons of students, but you see people you know everywhere- so it has a small feel, and isn't overwhelming like some places.
