This is a good school!

Introduction
I chose MTSU because it was close to home. I like this school. I've been here for four years, and I've had a lot of great teachers and a few bad ones.. If you are looking for Social Work, this is a GREAT school to go to.

Campus Life and Social Life
It is a big campus. We have about 24-25 thousand students. I lived on campus for a semester and loved it. I also lived in the Woods at Greenland apts, which are meant for college students. That was the best year and half of my college experience. I made a lot of friends when I live in my apt. If you want to get the college experience without living on campus, look into the college apt complexes. They are reasonably priced and usually have two-four bedrooms with separate leases for each resident, so you don't have to worry about someone not paying their share of the rent. In most of these complexes, everyone has their own bedroom and bathroom. I would suggest that students either live at home or on campus the first year, then move into the apts after that. It's a great experience. MTSU is a great school. There are lots of clubs, fraternities, sororities, and athletics. There is always something to do! Advertisement
Academics
Before you decide on a school, you should find out about the specific dept you want to study under. If you're looking for Nursing...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The Nursing program is not very good. I got into Nursing school the first time I applied, but it was the biggest mistake of my life. I had several teachers that would not work with the students and refused to answer valid questions. I left in the middle of the first semester of nursing school, and I wasn't the only one. I am now in the Social Work program, and I absolutely love it. The staff is very helpful and nice. They work with the students, and they make sure the students know what the field is like within the first couple of weeks in the intro level classes. The dance program has gone downhill. I was in the program for over two years, but the university doesn't support it, and it shows.

Student Body
This is a big school, so there are all kinds of students. No matter what kind of person you are, you can fit in here.

In Closing...
MTSU is great! It is also in an awesome town. Murfreesboro is a good-sized city, but it has a small town feel. There is still a town square with fun, unique shops and cafes. The homes close to the square and campus are gorgeous. They are old, restored homes from the 1800s. The one bad thing about M'boro is that there is a lot of traffic. Also, for those students who are married or have children, but can't really afford to live in an apt, there is family housing on campus, as well as a daycare center. There is also a daycare center for children with learning disabilities. I've heard that it is an excellent program. MTSU has a lot to offer. You should check it out!!
