A Real Education
Rating: 3.1/5 (50 ratings)
IntroductionMSOE is a real world education. You learn and apply real applications. The classes are laid out for you from your freshman year on and can be adjusted to each student, when and if necessary. I chose to go to MSOE for its small community atmosphere, the faculty to student ratio and the size of the campus. Those looking to party and breeze through 4 years should look else where, those looking for a real education should focus on MSOE.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe worst part of the social life are the students who stay in the dorms and play computer games all the time. A lot of students are shy and find it hard to get out of their comfort zone and have fun. MSOE can be a great time for those who at least try to have fun. There are a ton of things to do on campus. Hockey at MSOE is THE sport. There is a club for everyone and anyone on campus, and if someone thinks of anything new, Student Life encourages new organizations to start all the time. Weekends are a totally different focus than the weekdays, relaxing with others as busy as you are and enjoying what Milwaukee is known for ... beer.
AcademicsMSOE is a lot of work ... if you don't stay on top of the work, you quickly regret it. Professors are willing to work with students to ensure that all concepts are covered. The workload is heavy and those who learn to manage it will find the transition to the "real" world easy. Those who don't manage the work load, will graduate at a different college.
Student BodyThe typical MSOE student is hard working, dedicated and wants to get an education in order to establish a benchmark to a good career. MSOE alumni in the workforce are the achievers, the loyal employees and can rise to any challenge.
In Closing...MSOE isn't just about the classes and the workload. MSOE is about the entire experience, it is intense, but you find out who you are, who you want to become. The people who work at MSOE, professors and staff members actually care about the students.
