Application-oriented education; MSOE grads get good jobs

Rating: 4.5/5 (4 ratings)
Introduction
If you are willing to commit to a major right away and can tolerate below-average social scene, this might be the school for you. MSOE has an extremely high placement rate and very good starting salaries for graduates.

Campus Life and Social Life
There are not many parties at MSOE. That's all I have to say about that. Clubs and organizations are easy to join or start up if you want to make a new one. Intramural sports are a great opportunity as well.

Academics
Pretty much all the departments are solid (from what I know) and the professors are halpful. There are a lot of assignments and they can get very time-consuming. Many late-nighters will be required to complete assignments, unless you are the motivated type who gets things done right away. Classmates sometimes help with homework, and tutors are free for students to utilize.

Student Body
Most students seem quiet and keep to themselves, but are decent people to talk to if you make the extra effort.

In Closing...
One major reason that MSOE has such a great placement rate and grads make good money is, surprisingly, not well known. It is that MSOE has a close relationship with industry - that is, companies trust MSOE to produce quality professionals. MSOE can seem expensive, but with academic scholarships from the college itself and need-based financial aid makes it affordable. It is challenging and requires sacrifice but is worth it.
