Introduction
NYU is for independent people. If you're a go getter, you will do absolutely fine here.

Campus Life and Social Life
I had read so many negative reviews about NYUs social life that I was afraid i'd be spending tons of time by myself. It didn't happen. I can't walk around the campus without running into someone i know. I see people I know in the dining halls, I see them walking the street, everywhere! At NYU there's so much to do. It's really about learning how to join things. I'm in a sorority, on my hall senate, and i write for the paper. My friends are in things too. There's pretty much something for everyone. And everyone i've met is really friendly.

There's lots of near by places to go out on the weekends. Lots of places cater to NYU students so you'll run into all your friends there. However, signing in does suck, arghhhh Advertisement
Academics
It really varies by school. Crazily enough, most of my classes have 20 people or less in them. I have one lecture for my MAP class and its about 130 people (and really boring haha). But going to school in the city is amazing because your classes incorporate it. We get the chance to see plays witn our classes. One of my friends is in a photography class and his prof assigned him a walk that he had to take and photograph. I tagged along and it was really cool to have to walk around and see all different parts of the city.

Student Body
There is no typical student. It's a giant mis-match of people. Basically there's someone for everyone. A lot of the guys happen to be gay... I know ladies, it sucks. But then there are also jocks, frat boys, art guys etc. The same with the girls. there are the model-like girls, the party girls.... etc. A lot of people are from the tri-state area and they go home on the weekends. But then there are people from California, Texas, and pretty much everywhere. I have a class in which one guy is from Korea and another from India.

In Closing...
NYU is amazing. It's really about seizing opportunities. Oh and film sets on campus really suck. You think it'll be cool until you have to walk around it and are late for class. Also, elevators are slow and there's a long wait (learn to take the stairs). You get to go to school with famous people (like the girl from Matilda and the kid from the Sixth sense)
