State Is Somewhat Great

Introduction
NC State is the biggest university in the great state of North Carolina. If you come to State you will get a little bit of everything. The people here are very diverse and so are the colleges. Majors range from chemical engineering to political science. What's so great about State is so many people from such different backgrounds, cultures, etc. can still get along so greatly here. There are so many friendly people here at NC State, and since there are over 30,000 students here you are guaranteed to see a few friends on your daily walks around campus from class to class. So if you like big places and like meeting all sorts of different people, NC State is the ideal college for you. On the other hand, if you feel that you're shy and you don't like the idea of 'being a number,' you might want to consider some other fine institution.

Campus Life and Social Life
NC State is always competetive in football and basketball on an annual basis. The games are always great but what isn't is having to go off campus to attend games at Carter-Finley Stadium or the RBC Center. The campus is so tight and congested at State, that they do not have room to have a stadium or arena on campus. There's always a party around State, but rarely on the campus. After their freshmen and sophomore years, most students move off of campus. It is these students that usually have the best parties. I would sadly have to rate NC State's campus life sub par. It is definitely not the most beautiful and most happening campus in the country. Academics
NC State was originally an Agricultural school, so of course they pride themselves on that still today. State also houses a very good vet school and engineering school. I'm a liberal arts major and even though it's not publized as much as it's science departments, State has a great liberal arts department as well. The workload at State can sometimes be demanding, but the college prides itself on preparing students for the future.

Student Body
Like I said, it's hard to gauge the 'typical' student at NC State. NC State simply is not our typical school, it's one of the biggest universities in America. There is such a wide variety here, and it is this eclecticism that makes NC State University so unique and great.
