tokyo to boston...
IntroductionThe best feature, hands down is the Co-op Program: I don’t really learn too well in classes - I learn hands-on style. We don’t really get a summer break. We go to school for I believe like a month or so. Go to classes 4 times a week. The classes are generally longer than normal classes about 2 hours long and you take like 2 classes a day so 4 hours of school.
Campus Life and Social LifeI think there’s a support program called the ISSI…They register all the international students and everything and they make sure that your visa’s up to date and everything and they issue you your I-20’s all that stuff. I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of international students at this school and that you get the appropriate attention that you need. AcademicsI don’t consider Boston that big of a city actually because I grew up in Tokyo. This is more like a big town with kids that grew up in suburbia who came to college to spend their parents’ money. It’s not like NY, London or Tokyo, it’s definitely a lot laid back compared to those cities. Everything closes down at like 2 o’clock.
It’s really hard to get liquor if you’re not 21. You can use your fake ID here and there but chances are you’re going to get caught so it’s not a smart idea.
Student BodyThe crazy things that happen in Boston like the riots like when the Patriots win or like when the Red Sox win. Those are pretty much what I think are like the craziest things that happen around this area. Especially on Hemingway, the street I live on. That’s where there’s a lot of rioting.
This year, I mean like the Patriots won and the Red Sox also won so I guess like everybody’s kind of into the sports scene because why not join the winning team, I guess. To be honest with you, I couldn’t care like less because I’m not really into like baseball or football, but it’s fun to like sit around with friends and drink and watch the game.
So in that sense, I kind of got into like watching baseball and football and yeah like in general I guess it’s fun. It’s good to be a Red Sox or like a Patriots fan in Boston
In Closing...My favorite part about NU is the people I met here. I just think I made a lot of good friends here that I’m probably going to keep for the rest of my life.
It’s really expensive to live in Boston.
