College in a City!
IntroductionI decided to come to NWU because mainly it’s so close to Chicago, the location is unbelievable and it’s the perfect sized school for me. I think Northwestern’s wonderful because it definitely gives you a somewhat city atmosphere, but it still provides a campus-feel. I would say the majority of students that go to NWU were probably some of the top students in their classes and definitely overachievers.
Campus Life and Social LifeArmadillo Day, or as students like to call, Dillo Day, is the day that follows over Memorial Day and basically, it’s the one out of the year where NWU can actually qualify as maybe a quasi-party school. NWU brings in bands and there are all types of activities that are going on on-campus and pretty much it’s just “Ridiculous Day.”

AcademicsNWU is kind of cool in the fact that you don’t rush until winter quarter because we’re on the quarter system. And most of their schools when you go you rush as soon as you get there. So your friends that you initially meet are going to be in your Greek House or going to be your friends for the rest of your life. But here, I was able to adjust, meet lots of different people and then decide to join the Greek system. And I think what’s also cool is that our Greek system is only about 40% of the population so a lot of people aren’t Greek so it doesn’t make or break you social life.
Student BodyThe Sorority houses are unbelievable. Like we have our own chef, we have our own house keeper. We even have a house mom who lives in and the food is unbelievable and you really feel like you’re living in a house, in a home as opposed to the dorm where it’s very blah and blasé and it’s just the normal dorm thing that you could expect from any other college.
