Evanston Hates Us, But We Love It

Rating: 4.8/5 (16 ratings)
Introduction
I like Evanston—I mean the town hates us, but what I think it has to offer students is there’s lots of thing to do here. I mean as far as restaurants and we have some of the best restaurants in the suburbs of Chicago.

Campus Life and Social Life
The thing about NWU is the diversity of students. Not only do we have lots of different races of students, I think it’s a lot of pre-meds, there’s a lot of different kinds of students. Journalism’s really big here and business and everything.

I think most students are pretty academic-oriented, but we to have a good time. I think what we’re known for is more academics, but I think a lot of people like to have a good time as well. I think for drinking scene. I think down South there’s a lot of bars, but as far as up North there’s all the Frat quads and everything. We have parties and stuff, but as far as state schools go, I don’t think it can be compared to that.
Greek is pretty big here. There’s probably like 40 or 50% of the campus is Greek and I think as far as parties go. There’s not many houses that there are actual house parties because it’s very tightly held by the university. They check a lot if there’s alcohol, but as far as floor parties, we have a floor party every other weekend.

Academics
The organizations on campus - there’s just so many of them! There are so many multi-cultural organizations, like for me, the South Asian Organization. There are the volunteer organizations on campus, and there’s like Alternative Spring Break.

Student Body
The Pre-Med Program at NWU is like awesome. If you’re HPME, which I’m not because I’m not smart enough, but the Pre-Med program at NWU is just amazing. The classes are really hard, but I think as far as getting into med schools NWU looks really good because NWU is such a hard school.

In Closing...
The lake is beautiful. The lake is 100 yards away from here and during the spring and summer even though it’s not that warm here, people have parties on the beach on Lakefill, which is great because you can play football and like lots of different sports. I think it’s really cool that we’re right by the lake. It overlooks Chicago, which is great too.
