Not Enough Competition
IntroductionI feel like there was more competition in high school. We tend to help each other out. Form study groups and stuff. So I really don’t think there’s too much competition here.
Campus Life and Social LifeMost of my classes have been lecture, so if you want to miss a class here an there it’s easy to. Unless you want to miss discussion section, that’s kind of hard. Because discussion session meets once a week. Pretty small, like 25-30 people at most. So it’s really hard to skip those. And I’m also actually in a small class this quarter for Undergraduate Leadership Program. And there are 7 people in my class. So it’s really nice because you get to know those people better it’s a group, like teamwork kind of class. So it’s a nice change from my lectures.

AcademicsThere are some bad things about the Quarter System. Everything goes by so quickly you have, you know, it’s the first week of class and then you have midterms and then midterms again, papers and then it’s finals. So it’s really hard to fall behind. If you fall behind, you’re going to have to a lot of work to catch up.
Student BodyI live in a residential college, which is kind of different from a dorm in that it’s more community-based. There are more communal activities and you have to participated in activities to get points so the more points you have, the bigger room you get next year. So I’ve been living in the same residential college for 2 years.
In Closing...I feel like you’re either in a committed relationship, or you’re just single. I feel like those are the two options you have here at NWU.
There are several bars in Evanston. You have The Keg, Purry Moon, you have like Bar Louie and then there’s the Deuce, the Marktu Lounge, that’s farther away, you have to take a cab to it. Most of them are pretty lenient on ID’s. All of my friends go and I’m pretty sure not all of them are 21 yet.
