Norwich
IntroductionPick it if you are looking to have a military background and you want friends that can last a lifetime. I wanted to do something with my life, wanted to have a prestigeous school to attend that was both challenging but worth it, it had a civilian and military side to it, it had all the military branches, and it offered quite a few choices for majors and minors. For the most part those with honesty problems should avoid Norwich, people are expelled by an honor board comprized of high ranking cadet officers (seniors) and civilians have the same type of set up. I can't give to much info from the civilian side, but I have heard it is better than corps life.
Campus Life and Social LifeTHIS IS A DRY CAMPUS and the tolleration is nix-nill to none. Once again there is the honor board and the commandant to fear. Sports here are fun, but not the best in the world. Clubs are mixed and I really have no idea, I play rugby. For the corps, weekends as a ROOK (freshman) suck u don't have weekends for the most part and they are comprized of drill, sgt.'s time, and academic study time. If u have trouble studying and need a place that will force you to buckle down and do it, join the corps (it is fun after freshman year I have heard) you don't HAVE TO commission as an officer and there is plenty of time for studying. If you want to commission and do nursing, that is a different story, u can commission as a nurse and you don't have to be in the corps because it is so academically challenging but I am doing it and it sucks...but it IS bearable.

AcademicsAcademics are the one of the main reasons why people leave here, it isn't easy to stay once your in. The departments are a mix of Dr.'s and every one of them is great...it comes down to what you like and the advisor that is personally assigned to you can help you find your true passion. There is plenty of help if you need it, there is a full learning support center in the library, free tutoring for those who need it and the professors will stay and help after class or meet you in there office to discuss anything you may not understand.
Student BodyOnce again, as a ROOK there is no social life until later in the year but once that happens, it happens. It is possible to make lifetime friends that are both corps and civilian and you learn to work together with one another to make life at Norwich more bearable. Regardless of what you are involved in (sports, clubs, corps) a family is built and this place teaches everyone to work together as a team to accomplish any goal, whether you like them or not!
In Closing...DON'T COME HERE IF YOU ARE ONLY HERE FOR PARTYING AND THE RING and DON'T JOIN THE CORPS IF YOUR GOING TO BE A COMPLETE DIRTBAG. There are those that bring shame upon what others have worked for, don't be one of those people, when Junior Ring Ceremony weekend comes around and the junior class recieves there rings, that is the highlight of this academy. Those that have made it this far have earned the right to call themselves a Norwich Cadet and display exemplary performance working with others and being part of a team. DON'T and I repeat DON'T be the guy/girl that makes it through Norwich and brings shame upon all of us by your actions. Remember the mission statement and the Motto, then follow both of them.
