Football!
IntroductionAbout 100,000 people can fit in the stadium, and about 250,000 show up on game day just to tailgate. For a typical student, game day on Saturday at Ohio State, you’re going to need to get up from 6 to 8 in the morning, go to bars and start drinking for Kegs and Eggs, so people get drunk at the wee hours and eat some eggs and that buzz should carry you into the game and hopefully it’s early, around noon, so you can enjoy the festivities in a drunken stupor and be home to pass out by 5, take a three hour nap, wake back up and party some more, assuming we won.
Campus Life and Social LifeIt’s a pretty chill school, it’s pretty normal. I’d say the main theme here would be partying – you go around any given night, especially when the weather’s nice, there’ll be people going nuts – getting drunk playing some game called “corn hole”, I believe. It’s regional. There was a riot when I was a sophomore – it was on my street actually – it was 2 years ago – it was crazy. Just cars turned over and fires. It was fun though. It was entertaining.
AcademicsThe Buckeye bond is pretty universal here. Everybody who goes to school at Ohio State has a common bond of supporting the University – everybody enjoys doing things together – you know every year they jump in Mirror Lake before the Michigan game, like everyone will just jump in and it’s usually in November and it’s not too warm. But people are still committed to having fun and there’s definitely a school spirit that dominates the student morale.
Student BodyMy mother told 2 things before I came to college. She gave me two rules to live by, and these were: don’t sell drugs and don’t get anyone pregnant. And I think those are pretty good rules to live by.
