Huge, Sporty School
IntroductionFirst off, you need to visit this campus. The campus is HUGE and you need to make sure you would feel comfortable on such a large campus. Second, this campus is crazy about sports (especially Football), so you have to be able to at least tolerate the fact the main topic of conversation on campus is athletics. The mood of the campus often depends on whether the sports team won or lost, so be ready for that! Stay away from this school if you're not used to the big city. Chances are that you will be a little fish in a big pond, so get used to the fact that you will NOT be popular. This isn't high school, so get ready for a huge change.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere are a ton of groups, so you can always find someone with similar likes/dislikes. The campus is about 50% conservative and 50% liberal, so it's a nice mix. There's also a religious group for every faith imaginable. If you're into the bar scene, there are a ton of bars right across the street from campus. Plus there are a ton of places to eat! If you're not into the bar scene, we have an "art gallery hop" the first Saturday of every month and plenty of coffee shops where you can hang out. There's always something to do if you look for it!
AcademicsYou have to put in an effort with your schoolwork, but you can still have a social life. Some professors are hard to reach because classes can be big and they have other obligations, but overall they are great. TAs are usually good, but do NOT take them for a class at the 500 or 600 level. None of the Departments suck. Most Departments are pretty good, especially Sociology, Communication, Anthropology, International Studies, Law, Education, Biology, and the Medical Sciences.
Student BodyThis school is so big, there is no "typical" student. The only thing that is similar about the students is that most care about OSU football.
In Closing...This is a great school but again, remember that it is in the city! Always be aware of your surroundings and travel in groups. Crime here is on the rise, so be careful when walking around by yourself!
