Introduction
If you are considering Oklahoma State University, the first thing you should realize is that it's in a small town...very small. It's a typical college town, everything and anything revolves around the college, which is awesome. If you are originally from a larger city, you will go into shock for a while when you first get here; there is not a mall, no Starbucks or even a Target. Just a warning to all who grew up in the suburbs and cities. Small town kids will think they are in the big time. I chose OSU because when I came to visit everyone was so friendly. The campus is beautiful, all red brick buildings in an old-fashioned gregorian style architecture. The dorms are abnormally nice and are constantly being remodeled into suites and apartments until the old-style dorms are completely gone, which is awesome! I would advise any student who wants a completely serious education to stay away; although us Cowboys do work hard, I must say on average people party way harder. Sports mean a lot even though the teams are not doing so hot this year. Overall anyone who loves a friendly campus, with decently challenging academics and loves to party will love OSU!

Campus Life and Social Life
Social life on campus is awesome, from on campus to off campus everyone should be satisfied. There are over 200 clubs for all majors and interests. Off campus social life is even better, tons of house parties, and the bars have great drink specials! Here in Stillwater, Oklahoma where the campus is located, you will find that there will sometimes be a line at the bar on a Tuesday night - this is not uncommon. People go to the infamous "Strip" every night in the week because there are drink specials Mon-Fri; if you are female you can practically drink for free all week because there are so many ladies nights. And guys, don't worry - most of the bars will offer a "Drown Night" at least once a week where you pay $5 and can drink all the beer you want from 9-1. It's awesome. Sports are awesome! The ones that get the most attention are football and men's basketball. Cowboy fans always wear orange and get crazy at the games. Don't be suprised to smell Captain Morgan at the games, it's just the people sitting next to you passing their flask down the row to friends to add to their $4 Coke that they bought at concessions. Yes, here at Oklahoma State we drink booze at 8 am before the game starts at 11, it's just how we do things. A popular motto is "Win or Lose we still booze." After the games people drunkily walk to the Strip to continue the drinking to celebrate or drown their sorrows! Weekends at OSU can suck as a freshman if you are not from a town close by. I was from a town 4 hours away and couldn't go home much. This sucks because freshman year everyone goes home if there is not a game in town on the weekends, which can be boring for those freshmen who cannot go home. There are fewer parties and most freshman cannot get into the bars since they are not 21. However, once you turn 21 here, it is like a constant party and you never have to worry about having someone to hang out with on the weekends, because everyone is at the Strip! OSU is seriously the friendliest place in the world, people are welcoming wherever you go whether it is a bar, party, class or to a club meeting, you will constantly be making new friends!

Academics
Academics at OSU vary greatly depending on major. We are known for Agriculture related majors and Engineering. However, other majors are decent. The Journalism college is decent depending on who your teachers are. Business is the same. Political Science, Philosophy and Psychology all of the teachers are very liberal and try to influence you to think like them. Education is typically all females that are engaged or already married with babies. Within the Journalism college, there are many females too; it's probably the best kept secret, all the Public Relations majors in the Journalism school are female, very pretty, friendly, outgoing and love to party. More guys should be in Public Relations. Most professors are willing to help if you ask for it. Many slack off and cancel class a lot, and give easy assignments. TA's are nice, and very helpful, and much younger which is nice. I would have to say the workload here isn't that rough for me (I am in the college of arts and sciences). I don't really have homework, just a lot of reading. If you can handle reading a lot, then you will be successful here, and if you are good at multiple choice. Most people here take at least 5 years to graduate; if you are one that gets out in four years, congrats thats only 23 percent of the student body! People either flunk out, change majors too much, or simply drink too much and end up failing and retaking classes...and therefore are here forever!

Student Body
The typical student here is born and raised in Oklahoma, some from the larger cities like Tulsa or Oklahoma City, but there are a lot from small towns, where they graduated with under 100 people in their high school class. You will see some people that are very "cowboy" dressed, but that is not the norm. I would say the typical student is conservative in their dress and beliefs. Students at Oklahoma State are definitely into partying and drinking. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here if they don't like to be around drinking, because in all honesty that's a lot of what goes on in this town. Maybe it's because there isn't much to do besides that, but either way this being my fourth year, I have had a blast. On average pretty much everyone you meet is friendly and outgoing, students are pretty involved on campus, but love to party off campus as well. Greek life is sorta big but only about 15 percent or so are involved. This is an awesome campus filled with a friendly outgoing student body!

In Closing...
Oklahoma State is an awesome university, with decently challenging classes and an awesome social atmosphere here in Stillwater. I think it would be hard not to love this school! Anyone who likes the idea of going to a large college, about 20,000 people, in a small town setting would love it at OSU!
